As specified in the Ferrari records, chassis 05104 was sold new in France in March 1972 by the Parisian importer Charles Pozzi. The Ferrari Classiche certificate accompanying the car states that it was delivered in the rare ‘Bianco Polo’ colour, which only 77 examples of the 246 GTS are known to have received. The interior, meanwhile, was in the more traditional ‘Nero’ colour. Information we have uncovered with the help of the Pozzi archives confirms that this fine Dino was at one time exported, and that it returned to France in 1987 from Iran. It still retains its original colour scheme, complete with the yellow headlights specific to the French market, and its owner, the Lyon-based company Prestige Import, completed the formalities for its re-registration in France that same year. It was subsequently owned by Mr Vermont, a discerning collector from the north of France and, at the time, a Ferrari dealer in Lille; it was repainted red and then sold in 1996 to a collector from the Oise region, who entrusted the restoration of the rear section to Ets Pozzi in 1998, following a fire in the engine compartment. It then passed into the hands of a Belgian collector who kept it until 2007, before selling it to a member of the Ferrari Club Germany, who had it certified by Ferrari Classiche in April 2009, then sold it at auction the following month. It was in 2019 that Guido Hommel acquired it, drawn in by its extremely rare original colour scheme, as well as the fact that it still had its original engine and gearbox. He therefore decided to have it fully restored to bring it back into line with its original specifications. The bodywork was completely dismantled, stripped bare and repainted in its original colour, whilst the engine and gearbox were restored by a German specialist. The entire process was documented with numerous photographs. The interior was also carefully restored and all the body seals were replaced. A close inspection of the car reveals high-quality workmanship, with the doors and windows aligning perfectly. We were fortunate enough to take the wheel and experience first-hand the meticulous care with which the running gear has been refurbished: the car handles precisely, and its braking is powerful and well-balanced. Not to mention the lyrical revs of the superb, perfectly tuned V6, or the smoothness of the gearbox… This 246 GTS deserves the attention of the most discerning collectors, as its original specifications, its Ferrari Classiche certification and the quality of its restoration make it an exceptional example.

According to Ferrari’s records, chassis no. 05104 was sold new in France in March 1972 through the importer in Paris, Charles Pozzi. The Ferrari Classiche certificate accompanying the car states that it was delivered in the rare colour ‘Bianco Polo’, which is believed to have been fitted to only 77 examples of the 246 GTS. The interior, meanwhile, was finished in the more customary shade of ‘Nero’. Information we uncovered with the help of Pozzi’s archives shows that this lovely Dino was at one point exported and that it returned to France from Iran in 1987. It was subsequently owned by Mr Vermont, a discerning collector in northern France, and also the Ferrari dealer in Lille at the time, who had it repainted in red and then sold it in 1996 to a collector in the Oise, who sent it to Pozzi in 1998 to have the rear of the car repaired following a fire that had started in the engine compartment. It is known that at this time, the car was repainted red and was acquired by a Belgian collector, who kept it until 2007, before selling it to a member of the Ferrari Club Deutschland, who had it certified by Ferrari Classiche in April 2009, before selling it at auction the following month. It was in 2019 that Guido Hommel bought the car, won over by its extremely rare original colour combination, as well as the fact that it still had its original engine and gearbox. He then decided to have the Dino completely restored, to return it to its original specification. The bodywork was completely stripped down, returned to bare metal and repainted in its original colour, whilst the engine and gearbox were restored by a German specialist. All the work was documented with numerous photographs. The interior was also carefully restored and all the body seals replaced. Our inspection of the car revealed that the work had been carried out to a very high standard, with well-aligned panels. We had the pleasure of taking the wheel and were able to appreciate the meticulous care with which the running gear had been restored: the car handles with precision, and its brakes are powerful and well-balanced. What can we say about the soaring notes of its magnificent and perfectly tuned V6, or the pleasure of operating its gearbox … Its original specification, Ferrari Classiche certification and the quality of its restoration make this 246 GTS an exceptional example, worthy of the attention of even the most discerning collectors.
