This elegant Mercedes 220 S saloon caught Guido Hommel’s attention as it is a rare version featuring a large sunroof. Purchased in 2017 from a German company that had owned it since 2011, this elegant saloon required extensive care, which our collector immediately undertook in his own workshop. The underbody was completely rebuilt and treated, and the engine underwent a full restoration. All components necessary for its proper functioning were also replaced or refurbished. The bodywork features a understated and very elegant midnight blue paint finish, which was previously repainted to a high standard. The body seals have been replaced and the chrome trim is in superb condition. Inside the opulent cabin, the upholstery is a beautifully crafted combination of grey cloth and imitation leather. Once behind the wheel, you’ll notice the optional Becker Europa car radio, the manual gear lever on the steering wheel and a odometer reading 9,857 km. The more curious among you will find the original owner’s manual in the glove compartment. Mercedes 220s of this generation are highly prized for their consistency, particularly thanks to their pleasant inline-six engine; and if the elegance conferred by its colour were not enough to convince you, the appeal of this car’s large sunroof will win over even the most discerning buyers.
