- An exotic and rare model
- No reserve
With fewer than 10,000 units produced, the Borgward Isabella, in this coupé version, is undoubtedly the most sought-after Borgward. It featured a very American-style, flowing silhouette, high-performance mechanics enabling it to reach 150 km/h, and modern handling thanks to its monocoque body.
The example shown appears to have been sold new in France and underwent a restoration between 2003 and 2009, including a mechanical overhaul. During this restoration, the bodywork was repaired and repainted in a combination of red and cream to highlight the car’s lines. The upholstery was also restored, as were the floor mats. The car was subsequently sold at auction in 2009, before joining the collection of Guigo Hommel, who had been captivated by these cars when he was a young man. A closer look at this exotic car reveals chromework in excellent condition; the car retains its original badges and specific accessories, with the exception of one wheel hubcap. The interior and dashboard exude quality; among the accessories are a Blaupunkt car radio and a rear windscreen deflector. Having not been driven for several years, this elegant coupé has just been brought back to life by the collection’s mechanic and is now waiting for a new owner to inspire admiration and amazement wherever it goes.
