Launched in 1992, the Moto Guzzi 1000 Daytona represented a genuine innovation, as for the first time the manufacturer’s traditional V-twin engine was fitted with an overhead camshaft and four valves per cylinder, boosting its power to 95 ch. This Daytona remains the brand’s top-of-the-range model, even following the arrival of the 1100 Sport, which, despite having a larger displacement, is less powerful and significantly cheaper. In 1996, Moto Guzzi went one better with the Daytona RS, which combined the fairing of the 1100 Sport with an even more powerful engine, delivering 102 ch at 8,500 rpm. In Moto Journal’s launch review, Alan Cathcart noted: “This RS is a very good motorbike, noticeably better than any of the 8-valve Guzzis I’d tried up to that point. It feels well-built...” Production remained extremely limited, at around 300 units.
In good original condition, the Daytona RS we are presenting has less than 84,000 km on the clock and the redline is at 9,000 rpm, which distinguishes this model from the standard Daytona. It was part of a major French collection before being purchased by a Parisian enthusiast in 2024. The owner is now parting with it as, with advancing age, he no longer has any use for it. It is fitted with a high-back fairing at the rear, but the original fairing is supplied with the bike. As well as being rare, this machine is one of the highest-performing and most sophisticated Moto Guzzis of the late 1990s.

1997 Moto Guzzi Daytona RS
Launched in 1992, the Moto Guzzi 1000 Daytona was a genuine innovation, as for the first time ever, the manufacturer’s traditional V-twin engine was fitted with overhead camshaft timing and four valves per cylinder, boosting the power output to 95 bhp. This Daytona is the brand’s top-of-the-range model, even following the introduction of the 1100 Sport, which, despite having a larger engine, is less powerful and considerably less expensive. In 1996, Moto Guzzi broke new ground with the Daytona RS, which combined the fairing of the 1100 Sport with an even more powerful engine, producing 102 bhp at 8,500 rpm. In the Moto Journal test report, Alan Cathcart states: “This RS is a very good bike, significantly better than any 8-valve Guzzi I’ve tried to date. It gives the impression of being well built...”. Production remained extremely limited, at around 300 units.
In very good original condition, the Daytona RS we are presenting here has less than 84,000 km on the clock and the redline at 9,000 rpm that distinguishes this model from the standard Daytona. Formerly part of a major French collection, it was purchased in 2024 by a Parisian collector who is now selling it, as he no longer has any use for it as he gets older.
It features a high-back fairing at the rear; however, the original fairing is supplied with the bike. As well as being a rare example, this machine is one of the best-performing and most accomplished Moto Guzzi bikes of the late 1990s.
