Description
1977 Aston Martin V8 Manufacturer: 1977 Aston Martin V8 Vehicle registration document: French registration certificate Chassis No.: Chassis No. V8/11813/LCA - Attractive appearance and colour scheme - Sought-after Series 3 with carburettors - Extensive restoration work carried out This Aston Martin V8 was built in late 1977 and was quickly exported to the United States to be sold there. According to the copy of the Aston Martin register, it was then finished in Kentucky Blue with a light blue interior (DV. 6303), blue piping (DV. 6330) and Scandinavian blue carpet. A copy of the Car Record Card lists the equipment with the reference numbers AT 35, ACA 417, 377 SKR and 437. According to our information, the first owner is said to have purchased the car on 23 February 1979 whilst living in Los Angeles. He is said to have subsequently sold it to the second owner in June 1980, who was living in Beverly Hills. We then lost track of it, only to rediscover it in one of the world’s most significant collections in the Middle East, which put it up for auction in the United States in July 2022; it was on this occasion that the current owner acquired it. A knowledgeable enthusiast, he then undertook a complete restoration of the car, including, amongst other things, replacement of the entire ignition system, overhaul of the braking system with a new master cylinder and brake booster, overhaul of the carburettors, overhaul of the entire cooling system, overhaul of the power steering and rack, overhaul of the oil circuit, an oil change and replacement of the automatic gearbox strainer, and replacement of four shock absorbers and four tyres. In total, approximately €16,000 was spent on parts and 200 hours of labour were carried out in the car owner’s garage. The car, which appears to still be in its original livery, is now in superb condition, both cosmetically and mechanically. As this AM V8 is a 1978 model, it is of particular interest because it features a ‘stage 1’ engine upgrade with modified camshafts and an upgraded exhaust system, to meet the emissions standards that had compromised performance in 1976, making it a particularly enjoyable car to drive.
