c.1960 – BMW 328 steel body ‘Perfect for rebuilding a Special!’ The BMW 328 is one of the most iconic sports cars of all time.   It featured a body incorporating styling elements from the 319/1 Sport and 329, and its engine produced 80 ch – an exemplary output for a naturally aspirated 2-litre engine.   On the racetrack, the 328 dominated the competition, winning its class at the Mille Miglia, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Spa and the British Tourist Trophy.   A total of 426 BMW 328s were built, and it is estimated that 200 have survived. This heavily corroded steel body, in need of restoration, was likely manufactured in Eastern Europe in the 1950s or 1960s, to fit an authentic 328 chassis which has since been fitted with a body in keeping with the original wooden and aluminium frame.   With a wheelbase of 2.40 m – very close, for example, to that of a Simca 8 (2.42 m) – this body could be a dream come true for an enthusiast wishing to build a special… It is sold with a single-axle car transporter trailer registered in France (Lider brand, payload: 900 kg).
