1998 – Ferrari F355 GTS F1 Chassis no. ZFFXR42B000114096 French vehicle registration document ‘Superb specification, fully serviced, and in near-concours condition: THE Ferrari to buy… ” Succeeding the Ferrari 348, which was only in production for just over three years, the Ferrari F355 would ultimately establish itself as the brand’s biggest commercial success to date. Introduced in 1994, it retained the basic design of its predecessor, whilst its styling – still the work of Pininfarina – was modernised. The side air intakes were softened and better integrated, the front end was redesigned, whilst the rear fascia reintroduced the four round lights so dear to the Ferrari image.   This design exercise was primarily driven by the quest for optimal aerodynamics, requiring 1,800 hours in the wind tunnel. Its powertrain features a 3,496 cm³ V8 derived from the 348, which incorporates a new configuration with five valves per cylinder. Its power output rises to 380 ch, equating to 109 ch/l – a record at the time for a naturally aspirated engine. It is available with either a manual gearbox or an F1-style automatic gearbox with steering wheel paddles. The interior features stunning Connolly leather upholstery. Initially offered in GTB and GTS versions, a Spider variant was introduced in 1995, making it the first Ferrari convertible to feature an electronically operated soft top. A true milestone for the Prancing Horse manufacturer, the Ferrari F355 stands out as one of the most accomplished sports saloons. Its timeless design, exemplary handling and the spellbinding sound of its V8 make it an absolute must-have.    The example featured in these pages is a GTS (Targa) with an F1 gearbox, the rarest in the range – with the exception of the Challenge and Fiorano (limited editions) – as only 529 were produced in this configuration (out of 11,273 units across all versions). Not to mention its Nero Daytona paintwork paired with a fawn leather interior – a sublime combination that is particularly sought-after today…   This F355 was sold new in Germany, via the official importer Auto-Neuser, on 14 October 1998, before being purchased by an Englishman, who registered it in the United Kingdom in March 2001, via Talacrest, who fitted a mile-based speedometer. After a few hundred miles, it changed hands through Rardley Motors, an independent Ferrari specialist. It was this same specialist who arranged for the car to be sold to the current owner – the fourth – in 2008. The car then had 14,401 miles on the odometer, to which had to be added the 15,597 km from its original odometer, which was refitted. To date, the odometer reads nearly 56,000 km, meaning the car has covered just under 70,000 km. Its history and maintenance record are fully documented, with its various manuals, a stamped service book, and maintenance invoices. The current owner has been very meticulous, closely monitoring the maintenance of this F355, ensuring that the timing belts were changed regularly and the clutch checked. The most recent invoice dates from April 2026: engine removal, new belts and a full service.   In incredible condition, with a known and documented history, rigorous and up-to-date maintenance, a rare specification and a stunning colour combination: this is a Ferrari F355 that ticks all the boxes most sought after on the current market.
