Description
1955 CITROËN TRACTION AVANT 11B French vehicle registration document • Long held by the family of its first owner • Original paintwork and weathered finish • Structural and mechanical work carried out • Photographic record of the restoration Produced from 1934 to 1957, the Citroën Traction Avant combines a monocoque structure with front-wheel drive and a low-slung silhouette. In its 11B version, known as the ‘standard’ model, it offers a more spacious body than the 11BL. This example comes from the family of its first owner, Mr Bois, a farmer in Haute-Savoie, from whom the current collector acquired it. The history passed down indicates that it has been preserved for nearly seventy years. The restoration focused on preserving the exterior appearance and the patina of the paintwork, whilst carrying out work on the chassis and mechanical components. The front floor panel and boot panel have been replaced, the underbody treated and repainted, and a new fuel tank fitted. A photographic dossier documents the work carried out. The owner reports that the engine has been completely overhauled, including the liners, pistons, bearings, timing, cylinder head and valves. The clutch has been replaced, the brakes overhauled and the front suspension serviced. This 11 B is aimed at those who appreciate cars that retain traces of their history and wish to rediscover, on their drives, the atmosphere of the great post-war French saloons.   1955 CITROËN TRACTION AVANT 11 B French registration document • Long held by the first owner’s family • Older paintwork and a weathered appearance • Structural and mechanical work carried out • Photographic restoration record Produced from 1934 to 1957, the Citroën Traction Avant combines monocoque construction, front-wheel drive and a low-slung silhouette.
