Chassis no. 13677CI
French origin
Fitted with a sought-after 1300 G engine
Second-hand, same owner for 28 years
Extensive mechanical work and upgrades
The Alpine-Renault A110 was long the flagship of the diamond-badged manufacturer’s sports car range. Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1962 with a small 956 〖"cm" 〗^3 engine, the ‘Berlinette’ underwent numerous developments throughout its career, culminating in the final 1600 SX, production of which ceased in 1977. In the meantime, it managed to propel the small Dieppe-based manufacturer to the top of the rally podiums. With no fewer than 28 national titles and two world titles to its name, the A110’s reputation is well established.
The car we are offering is a 1973 Alpine A110, of French origin, second-hand, which has been in the current owner’s possession for 28 years. After purchase, the original engine was replaced with a 1300 Gordini.
This car has been maintained by its current owner, a Renault mechanic. He states that he replaced the cylinder head gasket and the wiring loom, installing two fuse boxes – one at the front and one at the rear. He also states that he replaced the radiator with a GBS Xtreme model, relocating it to the front of the vehicle (purchase invoice), and fitted a fibreglass air outlet to optimise engine cooling (no invoice). The seats and valves have also been overhauled (invoices). It is furthermore fitted with three-piece Targa alloy wheels. The paintwork has undergone a period-correct restoration and now displays a slight patina, whilst the upholstery has been refurbished at a cost of 2,700 euros. The MOT is valid.
In short, the A110 is the very essence of the French sports coupé, combining unrivalled handling with a design that has become timeless.
