Description
1963 JAGUAR TYPE E s1 saloon 3.8L French registration document Chassis no. 878878 • Delivered new in New York • Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate • Carmen Red paintwork, true to the original • 3.8-litre engine (non-matching numbers) Unveiled in Geneva in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type combines the styling designed by Malcolm Sayer with the XK six-cylinder engine. This first series was fitted with a 3.8-litre engine powered by three SU carburettors and is notably distinguished by its cork-lined aluminium dashboard. Delivered new to New York, this convertible comes with a certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust confirming its original Carmen Red paintwork. Its 3.8-litre engine meets the specifications for this version, but is not the one originally fitted: the car is therefore not a ‘matching numbers’ example. It has recently undergone a service, and the wheel bearings have been replaced. In this open-top configuration, the E-Type invites you to rediscover the pleasure of driving a 1960s British sports car, accompanied by the sound of the six-cylinder engine. 1963 JAGUAR E-TYPE 3.8 ROADSTER French registration document Chassis no. 878878 • Delivered new in New York • Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate • Finished in its original Carmen Red colour • Non-matching-numbers 3.8-litre engine Unveiled in Geneva in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type combines Malcolm Sayer’s body design with the XK straight-six engine. The early series is powered by a 3.8-litre engine fed by three SU carburettors, and is distinguished by details including its patterned aluminium dashboard trim. Delivered new in New York, this roadster comes with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate confirming its original Carmen Red colour. Its 3.8-litre engine is of the specification fitted to this version, but is not the unit installed when new: the car is therefore a non-matching-numbers example. It has recently been serviced and has also had its wheel bearings replaced. With the top down, the E-Type invites its next owner to rediscover the joy of driving a 1960s British sports car, accompanied by the sound of its straight-six engine.
