2002 MERCEDES-BENZ CLK 200 KOMPRESSOR
Chassis no. WDB2083441T119207
French registration document
Elegant specification
Recently undergone major servicing
Good original condition
At the 1993 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes unveiled a concept car named the ‘Coupé Studie’, heralding a new design language. This concept became a reality at the 1997 Detroit Motor Show with the CLK (Coupé Luxus Kurtz). The four-headlamp grille is a striking design feature. The bodywork embraces the biodesign trend with flowing lines devoid of sharp angles, even featuring curved glass surfaces.
Based on the C-Class (W202), the technical platform delivers precise and responsive handling thanks to a double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear axle. This Elegance trim maintains comfort through a soft suspension setup. The CLK played a part in the reintroduction of supercharged engines at Mercedes. The M111 four-cylinder engine, renowned for its robustness, is paired with an Eaton supercharger, enabling it to produce 163 ch. The combination offers excellent responsiveness coupled with a pleasant, resonant revving sound. A key advantage of Phase 2 is that the gearbox now has 6 speeds rather than 5.
Manufactured in January 2002, this example is one of the last to be assembled before the arrival of the second-generation CLK (W209). Delivered new to Luxembourg, this CLK was registered in France in June 2002. The stylish yet understated colour scheme combines Adamantine Silver with a grey fabric interior, which is free from holes or tears. The equipment is comprehensive (and in working order): cruise control, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, car radio, partially electrically adjustable seats (forward/back, height), on-board computer…
Part of a motoring journalist’s collection since December 2022, the car has clocked up 255,000 km and has been regularly serviced (invoices available from 2017). Major work was carried out at 220,000 km (2025): cylinder head gasket, chain guides and tensioners, compressor belt, and accessory belt.
The main weakness of the M111 engine – the engine wiring harness – was replaced by Mercedes in 2024. The vehicle has a valid MOT certificate dated 7 October 2026.
It is in good overall condition, with just a single spot of corrosion on the rear right wing.
This CLK is a great opportunity to acquire an elegant Mercedes coupé at a bargain price.
A collectable ‘youngtimer’.

At the 1993 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes unveiled a concept car named ‘Coupé Studie’, previewing a new design language. That concept became a reality at the 1997 Detroit Motor Show with the launch of the CLK (Coupé Leicht Kompakt). Its signature four-headlight front grille gave it a bold character, whilst the bodywork embraced the bio-design trend with smooth, flowing shapes and curved glass surfaces.
Based on the C-Class platform (W202), the chassis delivers precise, engaging handling thanks to its double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear axle. This Elegance trim level prioritises comfort with a supple suspension setup. The CLK played a key role in reintroducing supercharged engines to the Mercedes range. Its robust M111 four-cylinder engine is paired with an Eaton supercharger to produce 163 hp, delivering excellent throttle response and a pleasant engine note. A key improvement in the facelifted Phase 2 model is its six-speed manual gearbox, which replaces the earlier five-speed unit.
Produced in January 2002, this example is one of the final units built before the introduction of the second-generation CLK (W209). Delivered new in Luxembourg, it was registered in France in June 2002. Its tasteful, understated specification combines Brilliant Silver (Argent Adamantin) paintwork with a grey cloth interior free from tears or holes. The car is well-equipped with fully functional features, including cruise control/speed limiter, dual-zone automatic climate control, radio, semi-electric front seats (height and reach adjustment), and a trip computer.
Part of an automotive journalist’s private collection since December 2022, the car has clocked up 255,000 km and comes with a record of regular servicing dating back to 2017. Significant maintenance work was carried out at 220,000 km in 2025, including a new cylinder head gasket, timing chain guides and tensioners, supercharger belt, and accessory belt.
To address the main known weakness of the M111 engine, the engine wiring harness was replaced by Mercedes in 2024. The car comes with a valid roadworthiness certificate (CT) dated 7 October 2026.
Presented in good overall condition, the only defect noted is a minor spot of corrosion on the rear right wing.
This CLK offers an affordable opportunity to acquire an elegant Mercedes coupé—an emerging ‘youngtimer’ classic ready to be added to a collection.
