In the quest to ensure the comfort of casualties whilst being transported by road, the hydropneumatic suspension already fitted to Citroën models represented a significant advance. This VSAB on a Citroën C35 is mounted on a rear tandem axle, which considerably reduces the jolts felt inside the vehicle. The body can be lowered hydraulically to ground level to allow easier access to the rear. This conversion was carried out by Tissier at the request of the Lamballe Fire Brigade. The rear wheels are those of the Austin Mini.
