The Bultaco adventure began with a disagreement. In the late 1950s, Francesc Xavier ‘Paco’ Bultó was at the helm of Montesa, one of the most prominent brands on the Spanish motorcycling scene. When the management decided to withdraw from competition, he strongly opposed the move: for him, racing was the best way to develop the machines and build their reputation. So he stormed out, followed by several of the company’s engineers, mechanics and riders. In 1958, he founded his own brand, Bultaco, in Sant Adrià de Besòs, on the outskirts of Barcelona.
The strong results achieved in competition by the Tralla Super Sport encouraged Bultaco to produce a limited series of motorcycles derived from it, designed exclusively for speed and named TSS. Developed by the brand’s official team, the Escudería Dos Tiempos, they became the ideal choice for private riders. A whole generation of future champions cut their teeth on them, and the titles won with these highly effective ‘customer race bikes’ are countless.
The Bultaco TSS Mod. 6 made its debut in the early 1960s and quickly commanded respect from riders and competitors of the time. Its single-cylinder two-stroke engine produced over 20 chevaux, a remarkable figure for a 125 cc machine. The four-speed gearbox and air cooling were features of the early production runs. It is also fitted with Oldani brakes – Italian-made racing drum brakes renowned for their efficiency and durability.
The Bultaco TSS Mod. 6 we are offering for sale is a one-off example, in sound mechanical condition and with a particularly well-maintained finish.
