Description
1968 – Bultaco Pursang Mk3 Frame no. B-4800477 Engine no. M-4800477 No roadworthiness certificate No MOT A year after the MK2, Bultaco took things to the next level. The MK3 benefited from extensive work across the entire machine, including a redesigned frame, refined geometry and improved suspension – the result of an intense season of competition that enabled the engineers to identify and rectify every weakness in the previous generation. The result is a more balanced, more efficient machine, and one that is even more formidable on the varied terrains of the international circuit. Its 250 cm³ two-stroke single-cylinder engine has reached a remarkable level of refinement in this version. Powerful, responsive and more reliable than previous versions, it propels a machine whose modest weight remains one of its major strengths against European competition and the first Japanese challenges beginning to loom on the horizon. 1968 was a perilous year for European manufacturers, as Japanese brands were preparing to shake up the market. The MK3 is one of the last purely European responses to this threat, built with the resources and conviction of a manufacturer at the height of its powers, with production limited to the year 1968. A model from that year is today a rare testament to a pivotal moment. A piece for collectors who can read the history between the lines.
