Description
1979 – Montesa Cota 348 Frame no. 51M15698 Engine no. 51M15698 No road licence No MOT The partnership between the English trial rider Malcolm Rathmell and Montesa began in 1975, following a few early attempts with the Spanish rival, Bultaco, which shall remain unnamed. This collaboration was intended to provide the rider with a model bearing his name and to surpass the 247, thereby bringing innovation to this segment. The Cota 348 was launched in 1976, with the aim of increasing torque at low revs to make it easier to negotiate obstacles. Sixteen chevaux for 92 kilograms: that is what this new machine promised. Aesthetically, it modernises the brand’s iconic design thanks to its tank-seat integration, and the result is a real success for the Spanish manufacturer. A high-quality example, predating the launch of the brand’s 349 model. A limited-production model, very well preserved here.
