1990 – Volkswagen Golf GTI G60 French registration document Chassis no. WVWZZZ1GZMW110049 - The final version of the Golf II in its 160 chevaux supercharged GTI variant - A limited-production ‘youngtimer’ in its most practical 5-door body style - Royal Blue metallic paintwork, optional blue leather interior, black carpet and BBS alloy wheels - An exceptional first-own French car, with a total of 206,550 km on the clock, in its rare original condition - Sunroof option and a car that has been regularly serviced with a full service history - Order form, purchase invoice, service book and manuals, accessories and spare keys The file and additional photos for each vehicle are available via the following Drive link (upon request for access): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lGJ4wjEQFbPZQt2r2CTdicpUI9SYtqUK?usp=share_link Unveiled in 1990, the Volkswagen Golf GTI G60 represents the technical pinnacle of the Golf II and is one of the most sophisticated versions of the sporty compact car from Wolfsburg. Developed against a backdrop of increased competition from French and Italian manufacturers in the late 1980s, it featured a mechanical solution that was rare for the time: the ‘G’ volumetric supercharger, named after the spiral shape of its rotor. Paired with the famous 1.8-litre, 8-valve four-cylinder engine, this system enables the Golf G60 to produce 160 ch and, above all, particularly generous torque, delivering excellent acceleration and plenty of power across the rev range, without the lag typical of turbocharged engines of the era. To harness this power, the G60 features a reinforced drivetrain, a finely tuned chassis with specially tuned, lowered suspension, upgraded brakes with ventilated discs at the front and ABS as standard, as well as the EDS electronic system – a traction control system that foreshadowed Volkswagen’s modern traction aids. All this with a kerb weight of just over one tonne. More understated than an exotic sports car, the G60 exudes a typically German elegance. Its distinctive styling features wraparound bumpers, widened wheel arch extensions, a red-trimmed grille incorporating additional lights, and 15-inch BBS alloy wheels. The equipment is also particularly comprehensive for its time, with ABS, hydraulic power steering, a trip computer, central locking and electric front windows with green-tinted glass all fitted as standard. This specification could also be enhanced by a number of options that further emphasised the chic, upmarket character of this sporty compact car. Produced over a relatively short period, the Golf GTI G60 occupies a unique place in the history of modern GTIs. More exclusive than a GTI 16S and technically distinct from contemporary turbocharged sports cars, it appeals to collectors for its unusual mechanical character, its versatility and its preserved authenticity. As the direct heir to Volkswagen’s experiments with supercharging, it remains one of the most sought-after Golf II models on the ‘youngtimer’ market. The Golf GTI on offer is a highly sought-after G60 version, in a 5-door body style. It was delivered by the Automobiles Paris Défense dealership in Puteaux to its first owner – who still owns it today – in October 1990 and registered shortly afterwards. It features an elegant and understated Royal Blue Metallic finish with a blue leather interior and black carpet, complemented by beautiful 15-inch BBS alloy wheels. It also boasts some attractive options such as a sunroof, leather upholstery, a sports steering wheel and a folding rear seat. Ordered new by its current owner, who initially purchased it through his company on a lease before subsequently taking it over for personal use, this Golf GTI G60 therefore has an impeccable history. This is all the more true given that it has always been used and maintained regularly, as evidenced by the comprehensive service history file that comes with it. It is therefore currently in very good condition for just 206,550 km, and it should be noted that it retains most of its original paintwork. The timing belt was last replaced in 2020 as part of a full service, and the exhaust was also replaced in 2021. This Golf GTI G60 is also fully documented: in addition to the thick file of invoices, numerous expert reports carried out over the years, and all the original documentation including the manuals and service history book, it is being sold with its original order form and a copy of the purchase invoice! Accessories and spare keys are also included in the package. We are therefore offering you a rare opportunity that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning youngtimer collectors.
