Description
From 2.00 pm: 1963 CITROËN HY camper van with 41,570 km certified. Sold new at Citroën GALEY & CIE on Rue Vaugirard in the 15th arrondissement of Paris on 3 May 1963, it was taken to ANSART & TEISSEIRE on Boulevard du Général Leclerc in Neuilly-sur-Seine to be converted into a campervan on 17 May 1963. At that time, owners had to take their new vehicles to a specialist body shop to have the conversion carried out. As a document from the period shows, several conversions were possible: livestock van, campervan, etc. This particular vehicle was therefore converted and extended by one metre. The original bodywork plates from that era are still present. This model is extremely rare, given its condition and original fittings. The vehicle’s history includes the 1963 purchase invoice as well as the invoice for the conversion, detailing the work carried out. The brochures and invoices for the original camping equipment are present, such as the fridge and the gas hobs.
This vehicle really does have 41,000 km on the clock. It belonged to an Englishman who lived in Charente in the 2000s. The current owner has owned the vehicle for 15 years. Everything on this vehicle is strictly original. A second circuit breaker had been fitted for the motorhome’s interior. A vintage bike rack is also included with the vehicle. Mechanically, the vehicle runs perfectly and some maintenance work has recently been carried out. The underside of the vehicle has been treated and repainted; all the brakes have also been recently overhauled, as has the ignition system. In terms of bodywork, it looks excellent and is in remarkable overall condition, with its original ‘Île-de-France Blue’ and cream colour scheme intact. This vehicle has real potential for collectors, as well as for exhibitions or film shoots. It has a French registration certificate and has passed its roadworthiness test.
DESPITE THE CARE TAKEN IN THE DESCRIPTIONS, the vehicle is described based on information provided by the seller and visual inspections carried out. The vehicle is sold as seen, without warranty. The roadworthiness test is not a valuation; free collection within 15 days.
