Description
The engine is a type 840.725, taken from a Renault 5 Alpine. The owner of the 1300G had it modified for fitting into his berlinette: R8 engine cross-member, R8 cylinder head, reversed water pump, single-chain timing. It has never been fitted and has not been run since its overhaul, as can be seen from the exhaust pipes; it is fitted with a new 4-into-1 exhaust manifold and two WEBER 45 DCOE carburettors with specific intake pipes, as well as an oil cooler. The water pump is new and will be supplied with the engine, along with the R5 Alpine clutch bell housing. The side oil return pipe indicates that this engine was designed to operate with an electric fuel pump. The presence of Weber 45 carburettors might suggest that the engine has undergone more extensive tuning than the standard specification, but this cannot be seen from the outside: it is sold as-is without warranty. Please note that this 1397cc engine was originally fitted only to Spanish FASA A110 1400 models; it is not type-approved for a French Alpine A110 or an R8.
