Observations Sunbeam Alpine Spider Touring - Rare model, with only 100 ever produced - Year: 1964 - Wedgwood Blue - Black upholstery - 1592 cc engine - 4-speed manual gearbox - Overdrive - Electronic ignition - Power-assisted brakes - Stainless steel exhaust - Spoked wheels - Restored in 2019 - Over €45,000 worth of work carried out over the last ten years - The Sunbeam Alpine Spider was not an original design by Carrozzeria Touring, but a reworked and restyled version of a similar model built in England. - It formed part of the contract signed with the British Rootes Group in late 1961. - In addition to the restyling of this car, the contract primarily covered the mass production of the Hilman Superminx model (with materials sourced mainly from England and sheet metal pressed in Italy) and the design and construction of a new model fitted with the Superleggera system: the Sunbeam Venezia. - The restyling of the Sunbeam Alpine Spider was simple and quick, as it mainly involved a ‘Touring-style’ redesign of the two rear spoilers, which were very pronounced, even unsightly and anachronistic. - The rest of the Sunbeam Alpine Spider’s silhouette, faithful to the stylistic codes of the British spider, was retained. - An elegant hardtop was created and offered as an option, transforming the car into a pleasant coupé. - Production ceased in mid-1964, as with the other two models, following the collapse of the Rootes Group, which also plunged Touring into financial ruin, leading to its closure at the end of 1966. - Owner’s handbook and invoices available - French registration document (Carte Grise) – Collection - Roadworthiness test passed
