Description
RENAULT R6 Phase 1, type R1180, 1973.
Serial number: 1717019.
In the mid-1960s, Renault’s management sought to expand its range, which relied primarily on the R4 and R16. Between the two lay a vast gap that the R8 and R10 – outdated derivatives of the 4CV – were unable to fill. It was therefore decided to create a low-cost intermediate model, adopting the successful styling of the R16 but with the unchanged, basic mechanics of the R4. The R6 was therefore launched in 1968 and remained in production until 1980, with a substantial total production run of 1.7 million units.
This first-generation Renault 6 is a barn find in fair condition. The chassis is in fair condition for its age. The bodywork is also fairly clean, with a few minor dents from normal wear and tear. The engine will need to be restarted with care. The odometer reads 48,921 km.
The vehicle does not have a certificate of registration (CG). It is sold as seen, requiring a restart, and without warranty. The buyer will need to submit an application for an FFVE certificate with a view to potentially putting the vehicle back on the road. Transport by flatbed is mandatory.
