VOLKSWAGEN Type 3 Fastback 1600 TL. Year: 01.01.1968. Serial number: 318170373. odometer: 06443 miles. Body: 2-door fastback. Colour: midnight blue. French collector's registration. This model was produced from 1965 to 1973. The aim was to design a more modern and refined version of the Beetle, while retaining its classic powertrain, i.e. a 1584cc air-cooled 4-cylinder flat rear engine. The originality of the model lies in the existence of a double boot thanks to the very flat 'pancake' engine. As the engine was housed lower down than on the Beetle, the Type 3 had a front boot and a rear load area above the engine. The acronym TL generally stood for Touren Limousine (touring saloon). Our vehicle, manufactured in Germany for the American market, was imported from the USA a few years ago. It is in beautiful condition, having been painted in dark blue in the USA to the highest standards. The beige leatherette upholstery is as new. The headlining is also new. Mechanically, a complete overhaul has been carried out by the specialist "les charrettes de la Crau". This is a much sought-after vehicle due to its limited availability on the European market and is much rarer than the "beetles", while remaining relatively easy to use and maintain.
