Description
Triumph TR 250. Year: 01.01.1968. Serial number: CD7492L. French registration. odometer: 36807 km. Body : convertible
Colour: Jasmine yellow. British roadster produced between 1697 and 1969 for the American market.
The TR5, an evolution of the TR 4, was designed by the Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti and officially presented on 3 October 1967 in order to compete with MG, Austin Healey, Mercedes Pagode, Fiat Dino, etc. It was produced for a short period of 13 months, from August 1967 to September 1968, at Coventry in the United Kingdom before being replaced by the Triumph TR 6. The TR 250 was produced to meet American environmental standards of the time. While the TR 5 was fitted with Lucas mechanical fuel injection, the 250 was equipped with 2 Stromberg carburettors.
This version was fitted with a rear-wheel drive 2.5-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine developing 104 bhp. Its four-speed manual gearbox is enhanced by an overdrive. Imported from the USA in January 2021 by the previous owner. Appraisal report dated 30 May 2023. MOT dated 18/08/2021. The vehicle is in good condition having been carefully restored a few years ago. The steel bodywork is sound and shows no signs of corrosion, and the paintwork is of good quality. The TR 250 is appreciated for its mechanical simplicity and its still reasonable maintenance costs. It appeals to sports car enthusiasts for its direct drive, its generous torque and the musicality of its famous 6-cylinder engine. A set of maintenance invoices and spare parts will be supplied to the purchaser.
