Description
Peugeot 205 GTI. Year: 18/01/1991. Series n° VF320CDK224113737. French registration. odometer: 114200 km.
The 205 GTI was the iconic French sports compact of the 1980s. Designed by Gérard Godfroy, production began at the end of 1982, with a commercial launch on 24 February 1983[5]. It was a huge success, with the millionth 205 rolling off the production line at the end of 1985. Welter's design was perfect: modern without being too avant-garde, elegant without being pretentious, it had everything to seduce.
Some time earlier, in 1981, Jean Todt had become director of Peugeot Talbot Sport with a very precise objective: to use competition to boost the brand's image. To do this, he developed an ultra-sporty version of the 205 for rallying, which gave birth to the 205 Turbo 16, a racing beast that had little to do with the production GTI but which would leave a lasting impression with its resounding success on the Paris Dakar.
Our 1991 model corresponds to phase 2, with its 1.9-litre engine developing 122 bhp, thanks to its catalysed equipment, meeting the anti-pollution standards of the time. Equipped with a very light, lively chassis, a 'playful' rear axle and direct steering, this version was a pleasure to drive.
This 205, fitted with its famous 15-inch wheels and presented in its blue livery, is in fine working order. Regularly serviced, a file of invoices will be given to the winning bidder.
The roadworthiness certificate dated 28.02.2025 is clean.
