Description
Designed by Claude MICHEL, known as CLODION (1738–1814); cast by Ferdinand BARBEDIENNE (1810–1892). A pair of ovoid vases in chiselled and gilded bronze, with handles in the form of mythical tritons, the body decorated with scenes of ancient sacrifices. The pedestal is encircled by laurel toruses and rests on a square plinth. Signed within the decoration: ‘F. Barbedienne Paris’. 37 x 18 x 15 cm.
