HISTORY OF THE MODEL : The Porsche 911 (type 911), unveiled to the public in 1974, is the second generation of the Porsche 911 prestige sports car. In order to conquer the American market, Porsche had to modify the body structure of its cars to incorporate the safety specifications in force in the United States. For example, the bumpers were redesigned, incorporating an attachment to tubes that could be deformed in the event of a minor impact. These bumpers were terminated at both ends by an accordion-shaped piece of rubber, giving all models from 1974 to 1989 the nickname 'Porsche with bellows', also known as the 'G type'. Considered by many enthusiasts to be one of the last Porsches to retain the original 911 styling, the Carrera 3.2 was the car that brought the brand back from the brink of financial collapse. Its legendary reliability, its timeless styling and the virile, unsanitised driving sensations it delivers have made it a best-seller in the classic sports car market. It is still the classic air-cooled 911. Electronic fuel injection makes it as easy to use as a modern car, as there are no carburettors to adjust or chokes to manage when starting from cold, and the body is entirely treated with zinc electrolysis to protect against corrosion. To complete the range, the Carrera 3.2 will be available in Targa convertible and cabriolet versions. The front-engined models 924, 928 and 944, which were to replace the 911, will gradually disappear. This 911 has resurrected the brand. The vinyl Targa roof and its seals are in good condition. This version is powered by a 930/20 engine with a displacement of 3.2 litres and a power output of 231 bhp, fed by electronic multipoint injection. The engine starts without difficulty and responds normally to driver input. We noted no abnormal noise or smoke emissions. The engine has just been completely rebuilt. The Type 915 gearbox is working properly. The rear sports shock absorbers are new and almost all the suspension blocks are new. The vehicle is fitted with 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels. The rims are in very good condition. The front and rear TOYO tyres are in good condition. The vehicle is of European origin and registered in the United States, and is fitted with a number of accessories, including Renline pedals and tow bar, Momo steering wheel, Cibié long-range headlight, xenon lights and battery isolator. The mechanical basis of this sporty variant of the Porsche cabriolet, which the brand called a "Speedster", was identical to the classic version. It was powered by a 3.2-litre, naturally-aspirated 6-cylinder engine developing 231 bhp and mated to a 5-speed G50 manual gearbox. The bodywork, however, is much more exclusive.
