Description
Paul Louis CYFFLE (1724-1806), after "Le savetier et la ravaudeuse" (The sausage-maker and the greengrocer) Group in Lorraine earthenware biscuit, engraved mark Manufacture de Toul Bellevue. Late 18th - early 19th century. (Chips on the base) 37.5 x 30.5 x 19.5 cm On a wooden terrace, under a globe. In 1768, Paul Louis Cyfflé obtained from Louis XV the privilege of opening an earthenware factory in Lunéville. In 1777, however, the sculptor left France for the Netherlands. The liquidation of the factory led to the sale of his moulds, including this one, which was then acquired by the Manufacture de Toul.
