FRENCH WORK “MARTIN MARTINE”, CIRCA 1821–1838 – 18-carat yellow gold (750) pocket watch with two automatons and a quarter-hour repeater. Case: round hinged case, fluted sides, guilloché back, metal bowl, pendant chime. Dial: translucent blue enamel on guilloché, white enamel dial in the centre with painted ‘Breguet’ numerals and minute track, two automatons, a man and a woman, on either side, each striking a bell. Movement: mechanical, key-wound, openworked and chiselled cock, two-hammer gong strike. Diameter 56 mm. Gross weight: 130.2 g. With: one key (needs servicing, operation not guaranteed). CONDITION REPORT: Good overall condition, slight dents on the case back at 6 o’clock and on the case at 11 o’clock. A chip in the blue enamel at the bottom of the 6 o’clock position. The movement and chime are working at the time of writing the catalogue, but cannot be guaranteed; the chime requires adjustment. Watch requires servicing; the chime is not working.
