GOUJON (JACQUES-FLORENT). HISTORY AND JOURNEY TO THE HOLY LAND, OR A VERY ACCURATE DESCRIPTION OF ALL THAT IS MOST REMARKABLE IN THE HOLY PLACES. Lyon, Pierre Compagnon & Robert Taillandier, 1670. The edition is illustrated with a folding map of the Holy Land drawn by Goujon, as well as 16 folding plates (old and new Jerusalem, plans of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, plan of the Church of Bethlehem, etc.). (As is) Jacques Goujon (1621–1693) had worked in the fur trade before becoming a friar of the Order of Saint Francis. He made two journeys to the Holy Land in 1636 and 1666, which provided the material for this book, in which he offers a history and description of this region of the world through 23 visits, the last of which are devoted to Egypt.
