Description
France, 17th century
ciborium pavilion
Rich silk thread embroidery, gold and silver metallic embroidery, gold canetilles and blades, silver lace, with a decoration of multicoloured flowers, closed crown and the tetragrammaton in the name of Yahweh.
Four ogival-shaped panels joined in a Greek cross with Christ the Good Shepherd in front of a hilly landscape, Mary Magdalene (?) with the Holy Spirit in front of the sea and two red fleur-de-lys crosses in a pearl seed surround.
Precious 17th century convent work.
Height: 25 cm.
Generally in good condition, with minor chips and accidents.
Provenance: private collection, Lochois.
Ciborium veil embroidered in gold, silver and silk threads, made in a French convent in the 17th century.
