Three handwritten recollections linking the Duke of Bordeaux to General Claparède, preserved in the family.
Joseph de Lavilatte (1780-1858), an officer in the Royal Guard, became the military tutor of Henri Charles Ferdinand Marie Dieudonné d'Artois, Duke of Bordeaux (1820-1883). Auguste Marie de Maupas (1786-1862), assisted the Marquis de Rivière in his role as governor of the Duke of Bordeaux. A strong friendship developed between the officer, a veteran of the Napoleonic Wars, and the royal child, better known by his courtesy title of Count de Chambord.
