Cartel wall light and base-lamp
Shell, rosewood and bronze veneer.
The violin-shaped case has a central dial with white enamelled cartouches showing the hours in Roman numerals and an apocryphal cartouche signed "J. Baptiste Baillon". It is surmounted by a figure of Renommée. The lower part is decorated with acanthus leaves, scrolls and a mascaron. Four sheathed legs ending in flattened balls.
The lamp base follows the model.
The turntable signed "Terrier à Paris" is fitted with a Brocot suspension.
Partly Regency period.
Cartel: Height 93 Width 45 Depth 17 cm.
Lamp base: Height 34 Width 45 Depth 23 cm.
Total height 121 cm.

Provenance: estate of a former antique dealer, Orléans.
Tortoiseshell, veneer and bronze wall clock, partly from the Regency period, bearing the apocryphal signature of Baillon.
Tardy's "Dictionnaire des horlogers français" refers on p. 608 to four watchmakers working under the name of Terrien between An XII (1803-1804) and 1818.
