Silver commemorative medal of the Italian Campaign, created in 1859, based on a design by BARRE, featuring on the obverse the effigy of the emperor crowned with a laurel wreath, framed by the inscription ‘NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR’ and bordered by a laurel wreath. On the reverse, the inscription ‘CAMPAGNE D’ITALIE - 1859’ frames the names of the battles: ‘MONTEBELLO, PALESTRO, TURBIGO, MAGENTA, MARIGNAN, SOLFERINO’. Diameter approx. 30 mm. Second Empire.
