IRAN – North-West, 20th century Tabriz, wool and silk, c. 1975/80 Wool pile carpet on a cotton backing. Good overall condition Beautifully fine weave Ivory field decorated with interlacing patterns of fine branches and slender flower stems and foliage, delicately rendered in polychrome, framing a large, bevelled central medallion in brick-orange with a stylised diamond motif. Four ruby-coloured spandrels with crowns of geometric, flowering palmette motifs. Triple borders, the main one being beige with interlacing bands of serrated leaves shaped like caterpillars and floral bulbs.
