A pair of fragments of royal blue velvet fabric, richly embroidered with gold and silver metallic threads, decorated with a large stylised palmette enclosing foliage and floral motifs, punctuated by raised areas reminiscent of wall sconces or pendant lights. The border is highlighted by a frame embroidered with fine, sinuous stems, embellished with repetitive radiating motifs reminiscent of small flames or stylised candlesticks.
