Description
Two open bracelets from the Balkans, known as ‘Rogatka’, made of a silver-plated alloy and decorated with metal inlays. These traditional pieces of jewellery are characteristic of Balkan adornment under Ottoman rule, a period during which Bulgaria was part of the Ottoman Empire. Their open design and decoration bear witness to the richness of the region’s folk jewellery traditions. Late 19th century. 7.5 x 6.5 cm and 7.5 x 5.5 cm.
