36. AN ARCHAIC BRONZE VASE AND COVER, HU AND A SMALL ARCHAISTIC BRONZE VASE, ZHI
Han Dynasty and Ming Dynasty
The larger vase of rounded body surmounted by a waisted neck, flanked at the shoulders by a pair of loop handles suspending loose rings, the body decorated with a band of archaic motifs, the cover set with three abstract zoomorphic finials; the smaller vase with a pear-shaped body rising from a tall, tapering foot to a slightly waisted neck and flared rim, the neck encircled by a band of mythical animals on a leiwen ground, above a band of cicada lappets.
13.5 cm (5 1/4 in.) and 30 cm (11 3/4 in.) high (3).
