Condition report: Framed Born in 1961 in Buenos Aires, where he still lives and works, the Argentine artist Guillermo Kuitca draws his inspiration from a varied range of imagery: architectural plans, maps, theatres, musical scores and domestic spaces, to produce work that explores the themes of history, memory, absence, sound and silence. In the second half of his career, he has been acclaimed for his development of a unique Cubist-inspired style that masterfully reconciles abstraction with an illusionist form of figuration.
His work has been showcased in exhibitions at the Fondation Cartier and, more recently, at the LAM in Villeneuve d’Ascq.
