Head with very wavy hair and a forked beard; gaze raised towards the heavens and mouth slightly parted; a fringed perizonium, leaving the right thigh exposed, held in place by a cord ending in tassels; asymmetrical legs, with the right one bent. Spain, 17th century. Sold with a CITES certificate. Expert: Cabinet Fligny, Paris. Height: 21.5 cm – Weight: 227.4 g Inscriptions in brown ink on the reverse (arms detached, fingers missing, damage to the tip of the nose and right leg reattached) This figure of Christ, by its characteristics, can be attributed to Spanish craftsmanship, which renders the hair, the perizonium and the network of veins with great precision and finesse. The Harvard Museum holds a similar example, dating from the same period and displaying the same level of craftsmanship (Inv. 1983.32)
