Edward R. THAXTER (1857–1881). American School. ‘Reproof’. A monumental marble sculpture depicting a young lady of high social standing and her kitten. The artist died at a very young age; this work is extremely rare on the market. Related example: identical subject, Sotheby’s auction of 3 December 1987. Four fingers on the right hand have been reattached. Height: 105 cm.
