Description
Anonymous Russian artist. First half of the 19th century. Portrait of Alexei Davidovich Panchulidzev (1758–1834). Oil on canvas. Unsigned. A. D. Panchulidzev, son of a Georgian nobleman who entered Russian service in 1724, was deputy governor in 1801 and subsequently governor in 1808 of the province of Saratov; He is depicted wearing the Cross of Saint Vladimir around his neck, along with the medal and sash of Saint Anne. H: 70 cm – W: 60 cm Probably a free copy of the anonymous portrait held at the Radishchev Museum in Saratov. This lot comes from the reception room of the Château d’Arcangues.
