Figures under a red canopy Audenarde wool tapestry. Early 18th century. H.: 290 cm – W.: 310 cm (Signs of wear and tear; the colours appear faded). Figures are chatting and resting in the shade of a large red canopy; in the distance, in the grounds, a fountain can be seen. Border with a blue background and a repeating pattern of small acanthus leaves; for a similar border, see Ingrid De Meûter, 1999, Tapestries of Oudenaarde from the 16th to the 18th Century, p. 218 This lot comes from the reception room of the Château d’Arcangues.
