A trapezoidal cimbalom made of natural and blackened wood, resting on baluster legs. Late 19th century, early 20th century. H.: 74 cm – W.: 138 cm – D.: 74 cm (Signs of wear, broken legs, sold as is). This instrument bears witness to an exceptional history. During the First World War, in the trenches of Verdun, Pierre d’Arcangues played it to inspire courage and comfort the soldiers at the height of the fighting. This lot comes from the boudoir of the Château d’Arcangues.
