Mentioned by Brother Ramón Pané in the late 15th century, they were consulted during cohoba rituals, kept by the caciques, and sometimes buried in the fields to promote the fertility of women and the soil for crops. Zemis exist in various forms: three-pointed trigonolites, duho seats, and anthropomorphic figures such as the work on display.
