Akye culture, Baoulé influence, Ivory Coast 19th-century hut mask Made of semi-hard wood with a beautiful patina of age, depicting a male face. It features a beard and a finely striated hairstyle. H. 24 cm Provenance: Former private collection, Paris Condition report: Mounted on a plinth, remnants of a label on the reverse, small losses to the beard This traditional Akye mask was not worn on the face but hung in the hut, hence the name ‘hut mask’.
