Sculpture in the round depicting the head of a dignitary
The head looks down in the attitude of a scribe or a cube statue.
Granodiorite. Surface wear, erosion. The hair on the wig is incised in irregular waves and falls to the forehead. A second part of the wig is visible at the back, consisting of larger curls, revealing the earlobes. Base in patinated oak. The beginnings of a false beard can be seen.
Egypt, 18th dynasty (c. 1550-1292 BC)

Provenance :
- According to the owner, Mr Antoine de Saint Phalle, the object was given to his theatre godfather Jean-Pierre Martino (1930-2022) by his friend, Olivier Le Corneur (1906-1991). Then by inheritance.
- Base probably by Inagaki, but not stamped.
