Composition of sixty-six tiles, Tunisia, Tunis, signed Mouche Chemla and dated 1951
Composition of 66 ceramic tiles with polychrome painted decoration under a transparent glaze of a long oblong panel decorated with a plant composition combining scrolls, palmettes, rosettes, tulips and mandorles intermingling on a turquoise background. All around is a band decorated with different species of flowers (hyacinths, roses, tulips, carnations, irises, etc.), animated by sloughis, deer, ducks, birds and hares. The panel is set in a wooden frame and can be mounted as a table (separate base). Signed, located and dated in Arabic: "Awlad Chemla", signature accompanied by the fish motif of Mouche, Tunis, 1371 H /1951.
Size of one tile: 15 x 15 cm; size of panel: 166 x 90.6 cm; size with frame: 174.8 x 100 cm; height of base: 72 cm.
Minor restorations, two cracked tiles, a few stains.
