Candlestick, Ottoman Empire, late 18th - early 19th century and later
A gilded copper candlestick in two parts, a circular base with alternating concave and convex sections into which a later baluster shaft has been screwed. The base is gilded with mercury (tombak) and engraved with floral garlands and serrated foliage at the base of the shaft. The later added shaft has sections engraved with sprays of flowers, floral stems and foliage.
Height: 38.5 cm; base diameter: 20.5 cm
Minor dents and deformations, faded gilding, shaft replaced later.
