Basin, probably Greater Syria, Bilad el-Sham, Ottoman period, 18th century
Large truncated cone-shaped tin-plated copper basin with engraved decoration on the lip of a floral band punctuated by roundels and geometric friezes on either side. One of these friezes is interrupted by an epigraphic cartouche giving the name of an owner, Maqdissi Metrabi [?] ibn Maqdissi Jabbour, and the date AH 1132 / AD 1719.
