Description
Hookah water pipe, probably East India, Orissa, Cuttack, 19th century Imposing water pipe consisting of a globular base in enamelled and gilded glass wrapped in a filigree silver sheath and surmounted by a long shaft in filigree silver alternating sections of various shapes: globular, bulbous, rosette-shaped and ending in a floral corolla. The pipe, added later, is sheathed in a mesh of seed pearls inscribed with the date 1941 and the name of an owner, "Al-Hajj Yusuf [...]", and flanked by a wooden mouthpiece and an amber or imitation mouthpiece. Hookah set on a silver filigree multi-lobed circular tray. Height: 76 cm; tray: 22.5 cm; weight: 3490 g Small deformations, small missing parts and accidents, break on the wooden mouthpiece, small repairs.
