Cashmere shawl, second half of the 19th century
Square shawl woven from polychrome wool and black cotton threads in a radiating composition around a central poly-lobed medallion with a black background. The whole is decorated with scrolls, floral motifs and boteh. In the central field, a workshop mark embroidered with white threads and a harlequin and fringed border on each side. With the lid of its original box titled in gold "Compagnie des Indes, Cachemire - dentelles" and decorated with a gold border.
